First, I have to say how awesome it is to see you all participating in the Kris&Jack challenge. We have LOVED seeing you all on Instagram everyday, and have been inspired along the way...I found a pair of heels that I HAVE to have yesterday! We are entering the final stretch! Keep using the hashtag #krisandjackchallenge for a chance to win a Kendra Scott necklace.
If you are not doing the challenge or maybe just picking a day here and there, there were two days that involved borrowing clothes; once from your husband/boyfriend/male friend and once from your bestie. I am all about wearing my husband's shirt occasionally or borrowing something cute from a friend for a special event. But, I have never thought to do these things during a spending freeze, wardrobe rut, or just because it might be fun. I LOVED IT!
I wore my husband's flannel with leggings and heels. It smelled like him. I was was super comfortable. And, by adding some heels and layering some jewelry, it made the look more feminine. One gal wore her husband's cologne. Another wore her husband's watch. One wore a denim jacket that belonged to her dad. I love any opportunity to wear something with a story or something special. It takes shopping your closet...to the other side of the closet!
Borrowing from my bestie, Sarah, was even more fun. I sent her a text the day before that said something like "Could I borrow something of yours to wear tomorrow...something that I wouldn't usually wear?" And, BAM! She delivered. It was like Christmas being transferred from one minivan to the other. She brought me choices...
I have a very hard time stepping out of my all-black clothing comfort zone, and I LOVED wearing the yellow tee.
Amazing things, right? I love that I have a sweet friend willing to let me borrow some fun things (Thank you, ST!). And, I know I have other friends willing to do the same. My guess is, you do too! So, why is "something borrowed" saved for our wedding day or a special occasion dress? They are just clothes, and sharing is fun. I broadened my color horizons, added some bling when I normally wouldn't have, and upped my fur game...for free. I have also added Goodwill and a couple of local thrift stores to my "must-go" list. I am super excited to dig in, and I will let you all know about any treasures I find.
The point is, you don't have to spend a lot to look fabulous. You don't buy style. Sometimes, it just takes a little creativity, a generous friend, a sweet hubby, or a little inspiration to come up with something new. When we constantly look at our own closets, it is easy to get in a rut and put the same outfits together day after day. But, it doesn't have to be that way!
What have you tried throughout this challenge that has inspired you? Have you tried anything new that you had never done before? Does anyone want to go with me to Goodwill?!?!
Get the creative juices flowing! Love you guys!
