A few weeks ago on Instagram (don't forget to follow us at @krisandjackblog) I (Kris) posted a picture of some new purchases I made from the Living Proof haircare line. I am really liking Night Cap, a leave in hair treatment that you put on before you go to bed. You have the option to rinse it out in the morning or just brush it through and go about styling as usual. I really like it! I feel like my hair wakes up soft and silky but not heavy and greasy! And this time of year with all the sun and chlorine my hair can use a little extra TLC.
This summer I am trying to pay more attention to the unknown "stuff" and chemicals that are in sunscreen. Admittedly, I don't normally pay much attention, but for some reason I decided to spend more money on some of the more "natural" sunscreens this summer. I was pretty frustrated with a lot of them becuase I felt like I was rubbing Desitin on my children! It was so thick, and white, greasy, and SOO pasty! I mean good night! I dont have 20 minutes to rub sunscreen on each child. Then I found this amazing line, Sun Bum! I took this from their website: "Sun Bum uses a mix of organic and inorganic sunscreens as recommended by the FDA, SCF, and ACS, as opposed to the recommendations of non-scientific lobbyist groups. We based our decisions on real science, on how to best protect our friends and families from the FACT that someone in America dies every minute from skin cancer."
This stuff goes on like "normal" sunscreen and OMG it smells A-MAZ-ING!!!!!! It smells like summer in a bottle. Yes please!! I also have the face stick and love it just as much on myself as well as my kiddos! I seriously love this entire line!!!
Two times a year, my girlfriends and I (Jack) have a 'Favorite Things' party. We come up with one of our personal favorite things (around $5) and purchase one for everyone. We all exchange gifts at the party and end up with lots of fun new goodies. I love it! At our first ever 'Favorite Things', my friend Erin got everyone these Fruit of the Loom cotton pullover bras. They are the best! If I'm at home, it's what I am wearing. They are comfortable, offer enough support, and work under tanks in the Summer too. They come in a 3 pack of assorted colors. You can find them here, but I've seen them for as little as $10 at Wal-Mart!
About a month ago I was running out the door, knowing it was a humid, 100 degree heat index kinda day, and I didn't want to put on my usual perfume. I wanted something lighter. Something I wouldn't sweat off. Something different for summertime. No luck that day. But shortly after, I found this: Kerastase Chronologiste Parfum en Huile (aka perfume oil for your hair). Never in my life had I heard of hair perfume, but I thought I would give it a try. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and I really like it! It's smells SO good! I just put one pump of the oil through my hair and it stays smelling yummy all day. It's light, but still rich (with Jasmine & Myrrh notes). It's my new easy Summer go-to scent. It even tames frizzy fly-away hairs without the greasy feel. BONUS! You can check it out here.
FYI: I have heard this will be a limited edition product. I just don't know how limited!
Hope you all had a great weekend celebrating the Dads in your life! The pic of Kris and me is from a Father's Day weekend celebrating our own dads...a LONG time ago!
The best gifts in the world are not in the material objects one can buy from the store. But in the memories we make with the people we love.- Unknown
