Denim Skirts: They're baaaack!

It's true. Denim skirts are back, and in a very big way. This trend seems to make it's way back into rotation each decade, and I'm really liking it this go round. I was out running errands (with no intention of shopping :-)) several weeks ago and saw this denim skirt. I was immediately taken back to 6th grade and my desire to be Kelly Kapowski on Saved by the Bell. So, to the dressing room I went. Done and Done.

There are a couple of updates to the denim skirt that I love. The frayed hem, distressed detailing, added length and stretch (thank you very much) update the cut and give it a more laid back vibe. It's much more comfortable too!

I wore my skirt here with a classic white tank and Soludos espadrilles (remember the fabulous shoes I told you guys about here?). I added a leopard wristlet, some neon stack bracelets, and layered my Giving Key necklaces to finish out this casual look.

I also love the denim skirt with a pair of wedges and a cute off the shoulder top like this. But it can go dressier with a blouse like this front-tucked and some amazing heels like these. I even wore this skirt for a casual girl's night out with Converse sneakers. Versatility is key! I just read something the other day that suggested before you make a purchase, think of 3 things already hanging in your closet that you could wear it with. If you can't think of anything, move on! Wardrobe building words of wisdom!

These $12 sunglasses have been my Summer favorite. You can find them here.

Below, I have picked some of my favorite denim skirts out there right now. In addition to the straight, distressed style that I have on, the 70's inspired button down A-line cut is another fun option. I included some of those too.

I knew my inner Kelly Kapowski still had to be in there somewhere! What do you think? Will you try the denim skirt this go round? Happy shopping! Please share with us by using the hashtag #krisandjackblog. We want in on any fun new purchases!
