Jump To It

I've mentioned before that I'm not much of a dress gal. So, I was relieved to hear that the jumpsuit was still "in" this Spring season. Honestly, had it not been, I'd still be rocking them- I love jumpsuits! You get the ease of a dress (one easy piece), versatility, and, on a good day, can channel your inner Charlie's Angel. It's basically a win-win situation.

Jumpsuits are being sold in a variety of shapes and styles right now. Varying from a wide-leg/trouser cut like the one here (making a huge comeback) to denim overalls here (blog post coming soon!). I am wearing my Anthropologie "STEAL of the year" jumpsuit; it sold out quickly but you can find similar versions here and here. The 3/4 sleeves are perfect for Texas transition weather. The straight leg cut allows me many shoe options-heels or no heels-and you can't go wrong with a classic faux-wrap front. Love the v-neck!

I paired my jumpsuit with wedges, a long gold necklace, and easy hair. I'd wear this to a lunch date with my hubby, church, or a laid back dinner with friends. It's super comfortable yet super chic...and you can't go wrong with that combo!

Adding a chunky turquoise ring brings the look back to its 70's roots, when the jumpsuit trend first exploded in America.

By adding pointed-toe heels (remember they elongate your legs) and layering some jewels, I could easily wear this jumpsuit to work, a meeting, interview...even a wedding.

Side note: I love purple which makes me love these heels by SJP (here) even more. I also love the turquoise and purple color combination. Mixing things up a bit!

When it gets warmer, I'll pair this jumpsuit with gladiator sandals (Like these) for a day of running errands. And on chilly evenings, a fitted black blazer is the perfect layer. Accessorize! Jewelry, handbags, scarves and shoes allow you to transform the clothes already hanging in your closet, and expand your wardrobe without spending a dime.

Because there are many different jumpsuit styles out there, I recommend trying several of them on to see which style (or two) works best for you. Remember, the dressing room is your friend! The right style will flatter your figure and make you appear longer and leaner. A tie-waist can accentuate your curves by slimming your waistline. Patterns will help camouflage bumps and bulges. Avoid clingy materials when it comes to purchasing a jumpsuit. You want it to work FOR your body, not attach to it.

This one-piece outfit makes getting dressed so much easier! Bathroom breaks, on the other hand, can get a little more tricky...

Good luck out there, ladies! Jump to it!
