CHRISTMAS IS ONLY 9 DAYS AWAY! I feel like our family was just standing in our church's Christmas Eve candlelight service yesterday, and yet, it's been a year. It's true how quickly the time goes by, especially after having kids. Each year, around this time, we do a family photo. Looking at the photos from year to year I am reminded of how fast my boys are growing up.
For the past several years, Debby, of Debby Ditta Photography, has taken our family pictures (she is amazing!) This year we decided to go a little dressier and I am so happy with how they came out. After posting some pics on social media, I had many people asking about the fabulous sequin skirt I wore. So, I thought I would share all of the details!
A couple of years ago we were invited to the Love 146 gala (www.love146.org...please take a minute to check out this organization working to prevent child trafficking and exploitation). I had my mind set on a long maxi sequined skirt for the occasion, but they were all SO expensive. Then, I came across a little Etsy shop called Love Alana Designs. You can check out her shop here. I found exactly what I was looking for, and it was only $95!
For the gala, I paired my new champagne colored skirt with a Target v-neck white tee (here) and a black blazer from Forever 21 (similar here). I added a little more sparkle with a boho horn necklace by Frasier Sterling Designs. You can check her out here.
I was so comfortable the entire evening. The skirt has an elastic waistband (BONUS!) and isn't itchy like some sequined items tend to be.
For our family pictures, I styled the skirt similarly, but paired it with a black Everlane tee (my favorite tee that can be found here). I added some stacking bangle bracelets and the same long horn necklace. The fabulous skirt makes such a statement on its own, not much else is needed.
The versatility of this classic piece makes it a great investment. I would pair this skirt with a crisp white button-up like this and chunky pearl necklace like this for a more sophisticated look. It would also look amazing with a short fur jacket (here) or shrug (here) for a Holiday party or dressy night out on the town. For a New Year's Eve celebration, I would put this skirt with a burgundy cami (here) and stack the jewels on.
Love Alana offers this skirt in several metallic colors, some are even on sale. She also offers a mini skirt version.
The holiday season is a great time to add a little sparkle to your wardrobe. And remember, don't ever let anyone dull your sparkle!
