I dont know about you, but I could seriously people watch for days, and the airport is the best place. I love seeing all walks of life, shapes and sizes, ethnicities, and people from other cultures. And, lets be honest, looking at what people are wearing and often wondering "WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?". I have been traveling a lot these days for training with my new job, and I have done a lot of observing and a lot of outfit planning, which lead me to this post idea. I hate being uncomfortable when traveling. I mean, there is seriously nothing worse than sitting for hours and having your jeans dig into your waist or constantly tugging at your top because it is riding up on you or is too low.
It is possible to look cute, put together, AND be comfortable, I swear! Summer is around the corner and its travel season, so today, I thought I would share with you some cute travel outfit ideas that you aren't going to be miserable in.
This has been my go to travel outfit the last two weeks. I love these jeans! They are so so soft and really comfortable. I feel like they have just enough stretch that I dont feel like a stuffed sausage, and they hold their shape really well. This shirt has quickly become my new obsession. I ordered it online without seeing it and I am totally in love. I think I am going to order it in every color. The cut is flattering and it covers your butt (score!) so you could wear it this fall with leggings and a long cardigan. So the shoes...last week when I flew out to Philly, I wore these booties that you know I wear ALL. THE. TIME, and I left them at the hotel!!! I wanted to cry when I realized it yesterday when leaving to fly out for Baltimore. I have never been as obsessed with a pair of shoes as I am with those shoes! Don't worry, I have already ordered another pair (side note: Jack just got a pair too, so I am going to go ahead and warn you, double dose)! Anyway, I had planned on wearing them again, but settled on these shoes from Banana Republic. I love them and they are actually really comfortable. I had a direct flight this week so I knew I would not have to do much walking around the airport in 4 inch heels.
Speaking of shoes, I feel like they are so important when traveling. If you have to be "that" person sprinting through the airport to catch your connecting flight, like I did last week (40 gates in 15 minutes...a little cardio boost never hurt), you don't want to be slowed down by your shoes. I already did a post on fun leopard tennis shoes but I also have been wearing these New Balance a lot and I love them. My point is, you can wear comfortable shoes without looking like you just came from the gym.
I also really like to travel in long dresses or skirts. They are not only comfortable but you dont have to worry about crossing your legs and showing too much skin while on the plane. This would be such a cute travel look and you could wear flip flops, wedges, or even the New Balance tennis shoes. Add a denim jacket and you are certain to keep warm if you get chilly on the plane like I do.
Remeber Jack's post on Joggers? Those, too, are great for travel, comfortable and stylish. I love them because I honestly feel like I am wearing pajama pants and getting away with it! I recently bought these for work but I can dress them down and wear them on the weekends as well. I love it whem my clothes can work double duty.
Behind the scenes look with a future contributor!
I hope this gives you some ideas of how to be comfortable and stylish for your next trip!
