We're baaaaackk and it's in the bag!

Hi! Hi! Hi! We are back, and missed you so much! We both needed to step away from the blog and enjoy our families this holiday season. So, thank you for allowing us to do that.

Today, we are starting 2016 off with a joint post based on some requests we have recieved. What is in your makeup bag? You know, the real stuff, not the pretty pictures of containers that look like they are from the store. "Show us your goods" is an actual quote from a reader (hahaha)! And that is exactly what we are going to do. Open it all up, show you what is used, dirty, and maybe a little grimy because, let's be honest, I never wash my makeup brushes (I know I know I know, it's terrible!). I (Kris) will go first.

I have learned over the years that if I don't properly moisturize my skin my makeup doesn't go on as well. I love this eye cream by Rodan + Fields and it is the only one that I have used two times in a row. Meaning, I normally run out of an eye cream and try a new brand. Side note: I am currently trying out some new products from that line and I will let you know what I think. For daytime, I start with Bare Minerals Tinted Hydrating Gel, I love how moisturizing it is and feels like a big ole' glass of water for my face. Then I highlight and contour with Maskcara IIID foundation (post here) I love the blush and how creamy it is. I use it a lot for my daytime look. If I need more staying power, or if its night time I use NARS blush in Super Orgasm. For more coverage I too am a member of the cult following Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.  I prefer a really dewy finish so I rarely use powder, but if I do I love Bye Bye Pores by IT cosmetics. Sometimes I put a little on my finger and pat (gently) under my eyes and along my lower lash line to give my eyeliner something to stick too. For bronzer, I am loving Two Faced Sun Bunny.

Day or night I always start with Bobbi Brown cream shadow in Sandy Gold as my primer. It is a really beautiful neutral color and I feel like it helps my eyeshadow stay on forever. I even use it alone on days I don't wear eyeshadow but don't want my eyelids to look naked. For daytime looks and night time looks Urban Decay Naked (#1) is my go to. I can use lighter colors for day or really get dark and smoky for the night. I have other shadows but these really are my go-to 90% of the time. I just got this liquid eyeliner and really like it a lot. On days when I am not so refreshed looking I use Pixie Eye Bright Liner on my bottom water mark. For brows I go back and forth between Mac Brun shadow and European Wax Center brow powder. Then I go over the brow hair with Browdrama  to give the hairs texture. I swear by Lancome lash primer, Cils Booster XL, it requires much less mascara. I have used it since high school I think. It lasts forever, I think I only buy it a couple times a year. My mascara for a while now is Chanel Le Volume. I know its expensive, but you only use one coat and so it lasts forever. So much longer than any other mascara I have ever used. I use this makeup brush carrying case from Bobbi Brown.

So that's it for me! I mean, I have SO MUCH more but this is what I will pack if I go out of town and feel I "can't live without".

I (Jack) know I have said before, makeup application is not my "thing". I rely heavily on my friends, mom and sister to help guide me. That being said, I am still a product junkie. I think I feel in my heart, the more I buy, the better my makeup skills will get. Right? Right.

Through the makeup buying process, I have definitely found my favorites, and certainly my favorite brands. I admittedly switch things up a bit, but my current go-to's have been around for awhile now.

After moisturizer, I use the Honest Beauty Everything Primer. It's AWESOME! It has a tiny bit of pearl finish and adds a slight dewy look to the skin. It just won a Best of Beauty award from Allure magazine too! Warning: It doesn't smell the best during initial application, but it fades quickly. Next, I use the Honest Beauty Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free. These are 2 of the 3 products by Honest Beauty that I love. I just started their bundle program and have several other products on the way. So, more to come on those!

I was so happy to come across the palette by Steven Klein for NARS. I love NARS blush! The pigments are rich (even in the lighter shades) and they stay on all day. This pallete has 4 to choose from so I really switch it up. I also use NARS bronzer in Laguna, also included in this palette. This particular palette is not available anymore, but there is usually a comparable one available at Sephora or Nordstrom.  My absolute favorite product right now is the highlighter by Becca and Jaclyn Hill. It's glowing perfection for your face.

For under eye concealer I use Cle De Peau. It is an investment, but it lasts forever. It is the only thing I've found that really covers dark circles. For spot cover-up (acne scars, pimples), I use Miracle Skin Treat & Clear. It actual moisturizes your skin, treats, and protects. You just lightly pat it on the area you would like covered, and it works wonders.

I have some pretty crazy eyebrows so I usually have a couple strays to pull. Tweezerman brand tweezers are my favorite. Plus, they are purple, which is always a bonus in my book!

I use the Anastasia eyebrow 'Brow Wiz' pencil on my brows. Then go over them with Maybelline Brow Drama. I feel like it helps it all to stay in place.

Lately, I have been using the Laura Marcier Caviar stick eye color. I love all of the rich colors they have to offer. It is easy to put on and stays on me all day. My mom gave me the gift pack for Christmas so I'll be using these on heavy rotation. I also use all of the Naked palettes by Urban Decay. The newest one, Smoky Eye, is my favorite. I have been using Almay's Intense Eye eyeliner. It is a deep purple that is meant to compliment green eyes. I don't know about that, but I like how it isn't harsh and doesn't get all under my eyes (most eyeliners do). I recently discovered a new favorite mascara. Mascara is my favorite. Even if I don't put anything else on my face, I will have mascara on. I wanted to find something that cost less than the $29 a tube I was spending. Then, I found the L'Oreal Butterfly Intenza mascara. It's magical. You should try it.

More than anything, I am a lip stick and lip gloss collector. I'm not always bold with my lip shade during the daytime, but I will try every medium pink shade (with blue undertones) that is out there! Same goes for lip gloss. My favorites are Brave by MAC, Too Faced Spice Spice Baby, and Lilac by Bobbi Brown. I use Burt's Bees tinted lip color throughout the day. It's ALWAYS at the bottom of my purse! I also love Dior Addict Lip Glow for a little bit of color that adjusts to compliment my skin tone. It's very moisturizing too. It's on the pricey side, so I don't use it as much as I would like to.

My 3 favorite brushes are pictured above. One is a cheek brush by Smashbox, one I use for bronzer and contouring by NARS, and an inexpensive choice for all over powder by Sonia Kashuk (sold at Target). I would own all NARS brushes if I could, but the Sonia Kashuk are a reasonable substitute.

That's a wrap on our make-up bag contents. What are some of your favorite make-up products? Please leave us a comment below and tell us what we are missing out on!

It feels good to be back, ladies!  We wish you all a motivational Monday! We will see you back here later this week for a 30 day style challenge. It's going to be fun!
