These pants are hanging on clothing racks everywhere these days. They are easily spotted by the elastic hemline- think more intentional sweatpants a la AC Slater on Saved by the Bell in the 90's- but updated. Joggers, as they've been named, started showing up in retail stores this time last year and the popularity has grown and even expanded to men's and children's lines. I love the infamous Jogger pants for their versatility and comfort...elastic waistband, baby!
I had a girlfriend text me the other day who had recently purchased her first pair of Joggers. She is super cute and easily pulled together a casual yet chic outfit with her new pants, but she wanted more looks. I am all about working the wardrobe, so I decided to come up with some Jogger pant outfits that span from day to night.
Joggers, sometimes called track pants, come in a variety of fabrics and colors. For this, I chose chambray Joggers that I got at Anthropologie last Spring. They are sold out, but I found comparable styles here, here, here, and here!
First, I paired my Joggers with a sleeveless jacket (another MUST HAVE this season). I like to include a third piece in any outfit and this vest-inspired jacket makes it easy. Because the pants are on the baggier side, make sure your top layering piece gives you shape: a cinched waist, more fitted cut, or curve-enhancing lines. When you go with a more loose fitting cut, your other pieces should accentuate your figure. The flats make this a more casual everyday look, but I'd switch them out for a dressier shoe if the occasion called for it.
Joggers are perfect for a delicious dinner date night (remember the elastic waist?) I paired mine here with a black cropped blouse, heels, statement necklace and clutch. This combination takes the Joggers out of the "sweatpant" realm, and makes them more chic and fashion forward.
For a day of running around, Joggers are super cute with my favorite pair of Converse tennis shoes. You could try with with the slip on tennis shoes that are popular this season too. When going casual, I like Joggers with just a v-neck tee or tank and a cardigan, like I have on here. But they are cute with a tank, summer scarf and flats or a tee and statement necklace. I've worn this pair with a plaid button-up (front tucked) and my converse too. The Joggers are a nice change from your everyday jeans.
I call this look an in-betweener...I'm sure that's not a real word, but it works. I would wear this silky white blouse and heeled sandals to lunch, a daytime meeting, or church. It's perfect for daytime, when a super casual look with tennis shoes or flats won't cut it. Wedges would work just as well.
Joggers can be found at all price points and in all colors and patterns. And, the cut allows them to work for almost any body type. Next time you're out shopping, try them on to see what you think. And the best news is, you don't even have to sweat to be a part of this Joggers club!
